Basic Search Engine Optimization Question’s Answer

Q: What keywords or phrases should i choose for my website ranking?

A: Pick up the best-performing keywords, just do not think about high volume keywords, think about the keyword which are going to give you more business e.g. if your selling Luxury Holidays to different destination of the worlds choose Luxury Holidays Destination Name whcih have low volume of traffic with high conversion rate. And if you try to target keywords like “holiday to destination name (Mauritius)”, you will have high volume but low conversion rate and hard to achieve high ranking as well
Q:Would my website will be ok for second page ranking? A:Not really Optimize your website for top rankings (first page and then first 3 to 4 position)

Q: Should i submit my website site map to Google Only A: No you should always think about multiple search engines, try to submit your your website site map to all three major Search Engines

Q: Do i have to check my ranking in search engines and how this can benefit me? A: Always check your rankings in Search Engines because thats is the only place where you can see which SEO effort are working and then you can modified accordingly. If you know one of your website page is on second position in a Search Engine then you know your almost there you just have to see where you can improve this page to jump to number page number one in that particular search engine

Q: Do i have to find out which website are ranking my websites? A: yes, find out the website which are linking to you and why they are linking to you and which pages they are linking ( link: www.domain.com; link: domain.com) second one will give you more precise results

Q: Can i Automate my linking process? A:Well there are two thoughts on it, but every body is agree more link (quality) you have better they are for your website

Q: Does Search Engines minds if i have errors on website? A: Always checks for erros and Make sure your website is error-free, there are different kind of errors (broken link etc)

Q: Does hosting matter to my website ranking? A: Yes it does and make sure your host is ultra reliable

Q: Do i have to check how visitor on my website behaving? A: Yes, alway try understand your site visitors’ behavior, check out your exit pages and analyze the exit pages to see why visitors are leaving. There are many reason which can cause this.
Q: Your site map has more than 100 links to your pages, What is the best way to design link structure?

A: Create a hierarchy of links, and split up the site map into multiple pages. Because search engines are hesitant to give any specific guidelines on how to optimize our websites, any small detail becomes very important. As far as site maps are concerned, this is an issue where it pays to listen to the search engines, especially since with large content sites well-designed site maps are a sure bet that your site will be quickly indexed.

Google’s Webmaster Guidelines clearly state that you should limit your sitemaps to less than 100 links per page, and that it is better to use a hierarchy that signifies the site structure and the importance of these pages. It is good advice to follow, especially when a search engine says that “look, this helps us index your site better”.

Q: For optimization purposes, how should you use images on your site?

A: Use the alt tag to accurately describe the each image, and include descriptive content around each image. At the very least, images should contain alt tags with one or two keywords describing that image, and you should try surrounding that image with relevant text. If the image is not used in context (i.e. it is not part of a content page or an article), you should add a couple of lines below the image describing it. In essence, what you would do if you were caring for people whose browsers disabled images and those who wanted some details about the images.

Q: which is best website structure in term of SEO & Usability ? here from structure i mean flat or directory

A: Please Help Me

SEO-Wizz Answer: Obviously make sure any site is xhtml compliant and that pages are no more than 3 clicks deep. Some other aspects are ensure title tag is first line of sode after the head tag, use headings to seperate content, try to use hyper text links over nav buttons or drop down menus, use keywords in your sub domain, ensure meta keywords are relevant and not spammy, use alt attributes with your images, minimise the use of flash and java to help content to code ratio.

Remember this is very long list i just try to touch some points here in first attempt. I will certainly try answer some more here soon and if you have please do ask me i will try to answer it best of knowledge, thanks

Mean while if you have time and knowledge do reply for my this question about SEO, is it science or art?

Is Search Engine Optimization (SEO) an Art or a Science?

It is a struggle between art and science that frustrates many. The responsibilities of web developing — the art — clash with the role of the Search Engine Optimization (SEO) — the science. That is why some companies and development firms are designating web developer and optimizer as two distinctive jobs.

It is a job that can be done by anyone, but to be affective in a competitive marketplace the SEO needs to have only SEO duties. When developing the site, the SEO needs to be consulted on all issues.

SEO is both art and science. It’s like cooking; anyone can pick up a cookbook and prepare a dish based on the instructions, but not everyone can be great chef. The “science” of SEO is very well publicized, and anyone with the desire and a modicum of intelligence can pick up the technical side of SEO from books or the web. The “art” is what separates successful SEO from the hacks. This includes strategy, writing, targeted efforts to get high-quality links and other “soft” but critical SEO skills.
