There are some good points in this primer it is quite easy to miss the obvious when doing SEO optimization and loose out on potential customers who are using search terms that would fit your site but are not optimized for it. Google webmaster tools can show you what google bot sees which can be very handy. The builtwith website optimizer can also be a helping hand to people who want to improve their SEO but do not know where to start. The site is available at Top SEO Company

In our practice the first step is always discussing with the client what they want and what they think the keywords should be. I make sure to write them down and send the clients a copy. Then I go see if any of the keywords the clients like have any searches at all. Finally, I see what similar keywords are really searched for and present the results to the client as a jumping-off place. The clients are shocked, thrilled and even stunned by seeing that their mindset for many years is exactly what got them no hits.

Link building in SEO should always be the last step.

I disagree with your 3rd step. That should always be step #1.
