How to Select Keywords…Keyword Selection Process?

Most people while setting up a business website, they just guess or even start optimizing their business name (which no where near to their services or products they are offering) at which keyword and phrases their potential customers might used to fine their business. These keywords and phrases are then put into the Meta Keywords Tag, without doing any proper research on proper keyword selection. That is what happening with most of the business.

While being an true SEO professional you should dig out all the related keywords through different keyword selection tool and then normalize them for your business, for keywords selection there are many tools available in market e.g. keyword tracker, keyword discovery

I always try to use the mix of these tool instead of trusting on only one tool. Once you have set of normalize keyword for you business you then use them in different part of your website development not just in Meta keyword tag. You want be able to get anywhere near in top position in just placing keywords in keywords in meta keywords tag.

Live Example of Wrong Keywords selection.I was assign to do SEO for a company called Life Media, which is basically an advertising firm, but unfortunately the team which was working before me decide to optimized website around keyword life media as advised by company without any keyword research, which was not the business of the company. Instead of life media i start working on keywords such as advertising company, advertising company in northeast (as they are based in northeast of UK), advertising agency in northeast, northeast advertising company, north east adverting company, northeast advertising, north east advertising etc. Life Meida company website is on top most of these keywords now.
